When delivering an introduction in your speech, it is pivotal to be concise (10-20 per cent of your speech) and creative to gain the audience's attention and interest. You need to establish credibility (the perception of the speaker's qualifications) and goodwill (the perception of whether the speaker has the audience's best interests in mind) before giving a preview of your speech, such as the statement of introduction and the main points of the body.
