Relating Your Research Purpose to Writing the Problem Statement

A research problem establishes the background for the rest of the work, provides context for the topic, and describes the purpose of the study. In fact, it informs the readers as to why the research is significant. Prior to defining your problem statement, you need to determine whether your research purpose is associated with the function of the research you will conduct later. You must also determine the contextual background and the significance of the issue to choose the specific component that your study will target in your problem statement.
