Institute of Graduate Studies (IGS)

With the establishment of the Institute of Graduate Studies (IGS) or Institut Pengajian Siswazah (IPSis) in April 1997, it aims to provide opportunities for Bumiputera graduates to raise the levels of professional graduate education at the Master and Doctoral levels to push its frontiers for societal well-being. Its vision is to be at the forefront of scholarship that enhances academic advancement at the graduate level, in the pursuit of academic excellence and world-class standards of graduate education.

To enhance the community of graduates who are constantly promoting the advancement of knowledge through academic study and research culture as its mission, IGS holds its objectives to:

  • be the centre for administration and management of postgraduate studies for UiTM;

  • broaden postgraduate learning opportunities globally;

  • preserve the scholastic quality of postgraduate studies; and

  • establish policies and procedures pertaining to postgraduate studies.

IGS implements and manages the overall administration by formulating and coordinating policies on admission and academic regulations, as well as providing support to facilitate research and learning among postgraduate students. It offers 217 world-class postgraduate programmes (162 Masters and 55 PhDs) with the enrollment of 9,525 local and 998 international postgraduate students so far, which has produced 33,256 graduates. There are two modes of postgraduate studies: research and coursework programmes.

Seeking the UiTM Expert as Supervisor Solutions

UiTM Expert Profile is a research information system portal of UiTM academic staff where you can find the related information based on the available menus such as UiTM Expert, List of Professors, and My Expertise. In order to show you a better picture, I will take mine as an example. On UiTM Expert, you can search me as follows:

  1. by Name: Type "Mah Boon Yih" as the keyword;

  2. by Area of Expertise: Type "Language Development through Technology" as the keyword; or

  3. by Faculty: Select ACADEMY OF LANGUAGE STUDIES.

However, the 3rd method is not recommended as the search results are not specific. Click on the expert's name to access the individual page. You can find the expert's profile, research, publication, supervision, consultation, and curriculum vitae.
